Xlate – HL7 2.3.1 (SPQ_Q08 – MSH #9)

Hi,

I am trying to do an Xlate of HL7 2.3.1 – SPQ_Q08, however in cloverleaf MSH#9 only allows for 1 subfield, when in fact according to specification, there should be 3 subfields. Does anybody have any ideas on this? I don’t see a way to customize sub fields using the variants.

HL7 V2.3.1 doesn’t support that datatype. It was introduced in 2.5 as type MSG which is the 3-part Message Type, defined as

Code:

Message Code^Trigger Event^Message Structure

which looks like “ADT^A08^ADT_A01”

You cannot modify the pre-defined datatypes. However, if you know what the third piece should be you can just copy the value to MSH.#9.[2]

Ahh that makes sense. I was relying on 7Edit to give me the specification on HL7 and it looks like they are wrong. However when testing a translation, I am still getting the following error:

ERROR: Invalid message type ‘SPQ^Z01^SPQ_Q08’. unable to get information on invalid HL7 message ‘SPQ^Z01^SPQ_Q08’ for parse.

Any ideas?
