X12 Guidance

I have been using HL7, VRL, FRL but have never used X12.

Can someone give me some advice on a book or web site where I can learn the lay of the land for X12.

I have some sample files and have tried to run them through the tester. It is obvious that I need a variant nothing it matching up to any thing.

I’m sure the field delimiters just can’t be correct. But I really don’t know where to start.
