For a X12 to X12 xlate do i need to use a proc to strip off the header and trailer segments?

Yes.

There are provided procs but the strip header proc is flawed.

It does not provide for you to specify if the envelope is at the GS or the ST level even though the indication is there that it will.

OK i have gotten the split to work my issue is now with build side i get this error in the log: hciX12buildinterchange -> X12lib::joinX12: Message metadata field does not contain GS.  So how would i modify the proc in order to include this in my meta data?

That is the flaw.

The proc works but only works one way – assuming the GS/GE segment set is to be in the message and not in the metadata. I don’t think that is what you want.

You can either make a copy of the proc and modify it so that it functions properly or I have a version I modified that I am using with satisfaction and if you want it you can have it.
