      Hi,

I’m trying to do an xlate from HL7 to XML.  Where can I find the XML schema file for this?  I’m using Cloverleaf 5.7 Rev2.

      Thanks,

      -Ron

          Ron,

The receiving system should provide a schema or dtd for their messages but don’t hold your breath.

Most of the time I hear the vendors saying ‘we want XML but we have no schema to describe the message we want’ – pure lunacy.

If you cannot get the receiving system to provide you with a schem – you will need to build one yourself (something like xml-spy or other xml toolset could help there).

Of course the other thing you need is a description of what from where in the HL/7 message goes where in the XML message – again be very surprised if the receiving system can provide that assistance and very suspicious of anything they do provide.

If you mean the ‘standard’ HL7 XML schemas, have a look at http://www.hl7.org. But you have to buy them or be(come) an HL7 member.

If the XML has nothing to do with HL7, than you will need to ask your receiving system for the schemas, as Jim already said. Creating the schemas yourself is not something I would do.

I found this on the HL7 website

              http://www.hl7.org/Special/committees/xml/drafts/v2xml.html

…and this basically looks like what I need.
