does anyone have any examples of how the vrl configurator should look when you are setting it up or maybe how to use it in an xlate?

  thanks for the reply. gives me a little direction. just a couple of questions. is the max width field the length of field and what exactly is the escape character?

  Yes, the width is the max field length. Cloverleaf will truncate any field value longer than the width. You can use -1 to disable this.
  
  As for the escape pair, think text qualifiers. If you’ve defined the field delimiter as comma or other character in the global options BUT you have to pass that character as part a field, the entire field has to be qualified with the escape pair.
