upgraded from 5.2 to 5.3 and services file greatly expanded

We went from a 23k /etc/services to a 250k services file when we upgraded from 5.2 to 5.3. AIX inserted tons of services for seemingly every application under the sun whether we have it running or not 😕

Any idea why and or how to prevent this during the upgrade or whether this is “necessary” for some reason on a box only running the CLoverleaf APP?. We’ve only upgraded our test box.
