translit – 3.8.1P -> 5.5rev1

I remember something about this command but in our testing, we found that it errors out on messages in 5.5rev1 that it used to process successfully in 3.8.1P. The error refers to the translit command. What is the replacement for this command?

  I remember seeing an old post from a few months ago where the “string map” command was used instead. I’m sure if you do a search on “translit” you could find useful hints letting you know what others have done to get around this.
