I am not sure if 6.0 has these feature, but I would suggest adding a time out to the netconfig session if it is open, but not having any activity for a configurable about if time. It would be nice to have it so we can set it from 30 minutes to 24 if we so desire. This should help the issue of having multiple users overwriting newer versions with older versions.
this just happened to us on Monday 6/24, and I have heard of other incidents in the recent past.

To add to helping with multiple people accessing the NetConfig without blowing away the work of another.
Most of the access to the NetConfig I feel is to look at it and not make changes.
So maybe have the NetConfig open as read-only by default unless explicitly specified to open as write might avoid much of the unecessary lock conflicts.
