Threads per Process, Process per Site (Recommendation)

I know in the “olden days” there were certain guidelines:

#1  Don’t have threads send data directly to another process.

#2  Don’t have more than 6-9 threads per process.

#3  Don’t have more than 8-10 processes per site.

Do these recommendations exist anymore?
