Saving SMAT IB and OB

We’re looking at ways to improve performance on our engine.  One thought is to reduce the number of SMAT files saved per site.

Does anyone know of problems resulting from saving smat for both the inbound and outbound messages on a single thread?

One issue is if you are short on disk space or limited in I/O bandwidth.

If you need the messages, you will need to expand disk space or bandwidth if those are issues.

If you do not need the inbound messages on an outbound thread or the outbound messages on an inbound thread, then you can turn that saving off in the NetConfig for those threads. However, if you ever need those messages later to prove to someone they were sent or received or simply to track the activity on a thread, you will not have them.
