Is there any way to keep the SMAT files in 5.8 from writting the name of the tread at the end of each message in the .msg file?  My conversion plan from migrating from 5.4 to 5.8 was to take inbound SMAT files from production 5.4 and run them through the new threads in 5.8 and do a diff on the out.msg files to see if there were any differences.

This plan obviously will not work unless I can keep the 5.8 SMAT files from writting the thread at the end of each message.  I know I could write a utility to strip it out but I’d rather check with Clovertech to see if there’s a way to turn it off first.

          Daniel,

There is a utility that is provided as part of 5.8 to convert the SMAT files back and forth between 5.8 and pre-5.8; it is documented in the release notes.  I believe it is ‘hcismatconvert’ or something similar.

There is no option to turn off the additional information in the 5.8 SMAT files.

          Hope this helps.

Probably not an answer to your question, but I am also upgrading to 5.8 from an old/neglected 5.4 that is a total mess. In order to make sure 5.4 and 5.8 messages are the same, I am sending all data to an open source interface engine called mirth and writing the messages to a file. I use those with 5.4 to make sure the messages are the same.

Thanks for the information.  I’ll probably just use a sed command on the 5.8 smatt files to remove the extra data.
