In the Xlate I would have an inbound variant and a different outbound variant.
I would specify the ORM (quite possibly an ORM^O01 in reality) as the message and ADT^A04 in the outbound message type.
I would NOT use BULKCOPY.
I would build my Xlate to do what I want.
I have done this sort of thing before and it always worked properly (once I got my Xlate the way I wanted it) in both the tester and inside the engine.
Are you running it in the engine in the same site that you tested it in?
