Migrating From 5.2.1 to 5.5 (or 5.6)

Is there some documentation out there on migrating from 5.2 to 5.5 (or 5.6)?

This is the first time I’ve been directly involved in a Cloverleaf upgrade, so any help in the form of documentation, checklists, gotchas, scripts, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I did do a search on the forums and pulled off what I could find, but I’d be grateful for any additional available help.

Please note that we are on AIX and will be upgrading to the newest stable version of AIX at the same time as the Cloverleaf upgrade.

From my experience in migrating from 3.8.1P->5.5rev1 over the last couple of months, I would suggest:

1.  Using the installation manual provided with 5.5.  This is the biggest help as far as loading software, following allong with the site promotion, etc.

2.  Reading the release notes for 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5 and their rev’s to make sure nothing that was fixed there affects what you do.

After that, testing is the key.

Hi Max,

We will be doing the same upgrade (from 5.2.1. to 5.5) beginning in May of this year.  One of our biggest issues already is that we do not have a second box for Cloverleaf, so, I will have to get a second box to load my current (5.2.1) software and AIX 5.1 on in order to keep my production interfaces running.  

If you experience any issues or can share any information from your upgrade experience, will you post information for me to review once you’re done with your upgrade?  Any info you can provide will help me as well.  This is going to be my second Cloverleaf upgrade, but any info always helps.
