    Howdy gang,

Has anyone out there done a McKesson STAR 2.2b (HBOCHI) to HPF interface via Cloverleaf? I’m getting ready to build such an interface and am looking for anyone who already has a HL7 format defined. I’m on 3.7.1P.

    Thanks,

    Eric

      Hi Eric,

We are implementing this same interface.  We are sending raw through the engine from STAR to HPF.  On the STAR side, the 2.2b interface is a new feed to the engine for us, and McKesson set it up using the HPF message formats; so we aren’t utilizing any HL7 in the routing.

If your STAR 2.2b feed is set up the same way, you shouldn’t need to use any HL7 formats.

Hey Debra, did they have you build your production system first? They are asking us to build our production interface/system first for testing/development. They said that once we had production finished, we would then work on the testing (ID2) environment.

Just seems a little “rookie” to me . . .

On the HPF side, they are building production first.  On the STAR side, McKesson set up the interfaces in ID2, which feed our development interface engine, which sends to HPF production.  We won’t set up our STAR production interfaces until go-live.

We found this very interesting.  For some reason they find it better to build HPF live system first.

Well, we’re in the same boat as you then. They don’t really have a good reason for the logic, I think. They have not given one yet, at least.

      Thanks for the help.

Can either one of you shed some light what difference they have on this interface to. I am very familiar with HBOCHI, but we are now a Cerner site and no longer have to deal with two sets of specs but will be implementing this system very soon.

      Any gotchas would be great.

      Thanks in advance,

      Brian

So far we haven’t run into any gotchas; I’m expecting them to crop up as we begin testing.

I will post them as we run into them.
