I need to view the message that is being sent from Coverleaf so that I can make sure it is formatted correctly for the vendor that I am working with. Is there a way to view the HL7 message that is being sent from Cloverleaf to my vendor?

If you turned on Save Messages on the outbound thread you can open them up in SMAT and can view the formatting there.

If you are using an Xlate – use the Xlate tester and it will show you the message. You can also save the translated message to a file in case you want to email it to the vendor so he can check it out.

FYI ….if you use the Xlate tester or Route tester, AND you have tcl procs in the Outbound TPS, then the message in the tester may not be the actual message that is sent to the recieving system.   The Xlate tester and Route tester do not include the Outbound TPS.   You will need to save to a file and then run through the TPS tester.

If I have mistaken, then PLEASE correct me.   That means I’ve been doing things the long way all along.  This old dog would love to learn new tricks.

      Tom,

      You are correct.

If there is post Xlate activity which modify the message then the Xlate Tester only shows the effect of the Xlate and not the message as received.

I rarely have found a need for post Xlate processing in 14 years so typically what I produce in the Xlate tester is what I will send to the receiving system (sans MLP for HL/7). During a development process that is usually sufficient.

However, if one wants to show EXACTLY what the vendor receives then the SMAT files (assuming they are activated) are the way to go – unless one also wants to prove mlp encapsulation (which is not in the SMAT file).
