    In a test environment I have tried to install the Cloverlead 5.6 IDE to a Windows 7 x64 machine.  It will install fine, in fact it sees Windows 7 as Vista and only allows for the client install. Running the application is another story.  Trying to open Network Configurator or Network monitor I get Java runtime errors.  Are these known issues? Are there any patches or fixes currently? Are any planned?  With Microsoft planning to finally kill XP support sooner than later we are trying to test all applications in Windows 7 and plan a rollout around what works, what doesn’t and what will be patched to work.

      I ended up using the VM XP solution and it worked fine as long as i was using a wired connection.  As soon as i changed to wireless i got the same error you are.  Even if i changed the setting the VM tool it still errored out.

      Hello, we have the same problem.

      A virtual machine is NOT satisfactory answer.

      We must be able to use cloverleaf client on MS 7 OS without using a VM.

      7 will soon be the most communly used OS.

      When will the patch be available (or another solution to solve the problem).

      Tank youuuu for your (quick) answer.

      As of today there is no release of Cloverleaf (client or server) that is certified on Windows 7.

      This is something we are actively working on.  As I have more information I will let the community know.

      I was able to install the 5.7 client on a Windows 7 (Enterprise edition) PC by using the XP compatibility mode. I have been using it for about a week now with no issues.

      5.7 on Windows 7 ..

      run the install in XP SP3 compatibility mode (not VM, but run in compatibility mode).

      for the Patch, I had to modify the batch file ..

      runs fine, haven’t had any problems…

      Greetings,

      For us less than savvy Windows types, exactly what “batch” file are you referring to for modification?   We will be facing the same issue with running the Cloverleaf Client on Windows 7.

      (plan to migrate from CIS5.6R2 to CIS5.7R2).

      Thanks!

      By compatibility mode do you mean the virtual pc?

      I have tried the method of running the installation and the actual application in compatibility mode and that did not seem to work for me.

      Can you show us how you modified the patch?

      This is what I did to get the 5.7 Rev 1 client running on a Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit PC.

      1. copied the 5.7 client CD to the local hard drive

      2. right clicked setup.exe and changed the compatibility mode to XP SP3

      3. right clicked setup.exe and ran as administrator, installation ran normally with no errors

      4. manually copied the Rev 1 files to the local locations

      So far, I have not had any problems.

      Hi all,

      We have made significant progress with certification of the 5.7 client on Windows 7.  An official announcement will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

      Due to JVM compatibility issues we will be unable to certify or support earlier releases of Cloverleaf on Windows 7.

      Has there been any progress in possibly certifying the 5.6 client to run on Windows 7?  We are looking to likely upgrade to 5.8 later this year but for the time being I am stuck running 5.6 in VMWare.  As software is updated and works with Win 7 I am trying to use the VM less and less for anything production and use it for test environments only.

      I’d just like to add, after spending a little time getting 5.7 running on a new Win 7 machine, to follow the steps on selecting Win XP compatibility on the main application. Then, for the patch, edit the file, go to the part where it looks a bit like this:

      @findstr /c:5.1 temp

      @if %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 goto :windowsXP

      and change it to look like this:

      @findstr /c:6.1 temp

      @if %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 goto :windowsXP

      Sure beats copying all the patch files over manually.

      Does the 5.7 client still require compatibility mode to make functional?

      Keith,

      We are on 5.7R2, and back in January we asked support about this and they made a CD available to us that contains the “CIS V5.7 for Windows 7 (Pro) GUI + Rev 2”.  I assume it’s generally available…

      Hope this helps.

      Tried to install 5.6 client on Windows 7, but, of course, I’m getting Java runtime errors.

      So, it seems that I’ll need to upgrade to at least 5.7 before I can get this to work.

      Pardon my ignorance, but can I run a 5.7 or 5.8 client while the server remains at 5.6, or do I need to upgrade both at the same time?
