Idle CPU %

i am getting the less than 5% free CPU error from Cloverleaf. When looking at the system resources in our Linux 5 box…

when signed in as HCI

TOP shows 0% idle

SAR shows 99% idle

If signed in as ROOT

TOP shows 99% idle

SAR shows 99% idle

any ideas?

  Cloverleaf includes their own copy of the top command in the $HCIROOT/bin directory and it was causing me fits. I renamed the file to top_hci and added a symbolic link to usrbintop. That way I was pointing to the version of top that came with my system.

  Begs the question, what does the Cloverleaf top do different than the system top?
