Anyone seeing what the impact will be to HL7 via the changing to 5010 and ICD10 lengths?

          Robert,

I don’t expect there should be any change assuming the source system is using the proepr fields in the HL/7 message.

These should be CE type fields and not pose a problem,

However, the receiving applicaiton will need to figure out what to do with the newer precision of the codes as will the sending system to assign the proper codes.

We ran into a minor problem with McKesson STAR.  For ICD10 codes, STAR passes the coding method (DG1.2 and PR1.2) as “I10” and we found this got truncated when we had xlates, depending on which variant was used.  Easily fixed but still something to watch for.
