    Hello All,

We need to build a new Item Master interface between our current PMM system and Epic. On the input side the current PMM hl7 version is 2.2 but hl7 version 2.6 is required for the output side.

My question is how do I go about loading hl7 version 2.6 onto CLoverleaf. Do have have to be a member of hl7.org to retrieve this? Or is there an FTP site that I am not aware that I can retrieve it from.

Thomas, please post Cloverleaf-related questions in the Cloverleaf forum.  The Comments and Suggestions area is for comments and suggestions about the Clovertech forums themselves.   I’ve moved this post to the Cloverleaf forum as I have all your others.  Thanks 😉

To answer your question about HL7 2.6, it hasn’t been approved as a standard yet.  It may be in balloting and you may be able to obtain a draft copy of the standard, I would check http://www.hl7.org” class=”bbcode_url”>http://www.hl7.org.

Since it’s not official it’s not supported natively in any release of Cloverleaf yet.  You should be able to create a 2.6 variant from the 2.5 version using a draft 2.6 standard.

I am also developing an interface to Epic, Optime; and, require the new-to-HL7 inventory segments. These segments are new existing only in the draft version, 2.6.  ❓ Has anyone developed any the following 2.6 segments?

IIM – INVENTORY ITEM MASTER SEGMENT

      ITM – MATERIAL ITEM SEGMENT

      STZ – STERILIZATION PARAMETER SEGMENT

      VND – PURCHASING VENDOR SEGMENT

      PKG – PACKAGING SEGMENT

PCE – PATIENT CHARGE COST CENTER EXCEPTION

      IVT – MATERIAL LOCATION SEGMENT

      ILT – MATERIAL LOT SEGMENT

      Thanks,

The best way to get the HL7 2.6 spec is to have your work pony up for a memebership to HL7.  Then you can get the 2.6 spec free from the Members only pages.

      Greetings,

We are running Epic version Fall04 soon to upgrade to the Spring07 version.  So far we have not seen any requirement to develop an interface using HL72.6 with OPTIME.   Can you supply us with more information such as your version of Epic Systems software?  Source for the requirement? This would help us out too as we will be developing a Cloverleaf interface with the Epic Systems Optime application sometime mid year.

      Thanks in advance.

PS: we are an AIX5.2 shop with Cloverleaf 5.3 REV3 and 5.4.1 REV2.

We added additional segments to HL7 v2.3 for a Lawson to Epic items interface, including ITM, IVT, PCE, PKG, VND & ZBL.  Cloverleaf is very flexible in letting you extend the HL7 standard as needed.  You don’t even need to know Tcl.

We built the fields, segments and messages based on information in the Epic interface documentation.

Thanks Mark: I am adding the same 2.6 segments to 2.5. I will tell you what I was thinking when I put this topic out here: I was thinking that perhaps that version–2.6–had been written out there–somewhere. So that I would not have to write it too.

I wonder how many times these new segments will be written by people like us before they get supported? At any rate, I appreciate the suggestions; because, they are good advice: I started writting all the new segments last Thursday–from the Epic specs.
