Just wondering if anyone has heard or has info about the future of Integration as related to the HITECH Act (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health)? How will all this Patient Health information be passed between Hospitals and Physician offices?
As a “Integration Person”, what skills or computer language(s) do I need to start working on to make sure I can “keep up” and hopefully keep my job?
Currently, we mostly use HL7 and Cloverleaf at my hospital to pass data between the various Clinical systems.
Any ideas???

You’ll want to start investigating HL7 V3. There will be an HL7 e-Learning Course coming up beginning March 11. It runs about 14 weeks. I just finished the Fall ’09 course, and found it very informative. Lots of reading and lots of homework, however. Check out http://www.hl7.org
