add a pipe right after pv1|

I would like to add a pipe right after the pv1 segment in A31.. That is

One way is in the variant make sure the PV1 segment is required (it should be) and make the PV1-1 (Set ID – PV1) field required (it probably is not).

If using BULKCOPY (or perhaps PATHCOPY) then make sure you COPY @null to the PV1-1 field.

If doing field by field integration (no BULKCOPY or PATHCOPY) then I don’t think you need to COPY anything to the PV1-1 field as Xlate will create required segments and required fields.

Of course, the above is dependent on you NEVER receive a PV1 segment from the Source System.

Of course another way is to get the receiving system to use a good parser that does not require at least one field in a segment.  🙄
