ACK question

So, I’ve tried to wade through several of the threads dealing with ACK back into an ADT thread.  

If doing as some have suggested:  removing the ‘outbound’ only check and using hl7Raw_ack, do the acks get logged somewhere for research?  We have an issue with a vendor saying they didn’t receive messages and yet we show them being sent out.  

We are on CL-5.7 on an AIX box.

If you have a receiving system that you show messages in the Outbound SMAT that they say they never received, you should see a freply from them for each message (unless you are doing a resend) in the inbound SMAT for the outbound thread (assuming you have inbound SMAT turned on for the outbound thread).

With both SMATs turned on for the outbound thread and assuming the receiving system is following the standard of echoing back the MSH-10 from the message they received in the ACK they are sending and assuming the sending system (or you inside Cloverleaf) provide a unique MSH-10 you should be able to match up an acknowledgment for a message sent. I you do match up an acknowledgment with a message show that to the vendor and ask them who else but them would be sending this acknowledgment (especially effective if you insisted they also populate the MSH with proper sending/receiving syste/app fields in the MSH).

If you are talking about a sending system that you want to acknowledge, then place your acknowledgment proc in the Inbound TPS UPoC and turn on outbound SMAT for the inbound thread.

Got it working Jim.  Again, thanks for the message.  I’ve put together a little proc to e-mail the team when we get a ‘NACK’ back.  

Hopefully I’ll get to the users meeting and actually meet you.  

For all your help, might have to buy you a drink!
