thank you, Scott, for your reply. I did notice that reducing the sleep time helps reduce the total time a lot. I also reduced the number of tries. thanks,
vamshi.
Thank you, LeeAnne and Glenn for your super fast responses. I appreciate it!! Sorry, Ken, for the delay. I was moving into a new office. Please send the scripts to
vmugu@altru.org Thank you very much for your help!!
Hi Ken, Thank you for your response. I did succeed in writing and testing startup/shutdown scripts (had to reduce the waiting time in waitForIt). We do not use the scripts provided by QDXi – do we need to buy them from QDX?
We use TSM to backup file systems. It sounds like I need to turn on message saving in order to use your scripts. This is one thing I wanted to do because right now TSM only backs up config files as the message saving is not turned on.
If you could send me those scripts, I would REALLY appreciate it.
thanks,
vamshi.
Thank you, Ed. That was the problem!! Hi Matt and Brad, Please post the web stuff to the board. I am interested in it too.
thanks,
vamshi.
Thanks, Daniel, that $ did the trick. Appreciate your help. Hi Daniel, Could you send me some more details, please? I am trying to do a similar thing. It would solve my problem if I could use a variable in place of %s1 for destination in:
1(%g1).0(0).OBX(%s1) -> 0(0).OBX(%s1)
I still want the source values to use %g1 and %s1, but want to be able to use some variable (global) in place of %s1 on the destination in the above translation [eg. 0(0).OBX($myVar)].
Thanks for your help,
Vamshi Mugu,

Hi David, A couple more questions:
1. Do you use any criteria to select what messages go in SMAT? Or, since you recycle every day, do you pretty much store every message that passes through the engine?
2. Would you be willing to share the logic you use for archiving SMAT messages? Do you just tar (& zip) the saved files? How do you index them?
Appreciate your help,
vamshi.
