      Awesome thanks for the reply.  This works.  I guess I was asking if, within the translate, for an IF statement condition, can you check a range of values versus doing something like the below or a preproc:

      0(0).PV1(0).#3(0).[1]  ct =A ||

      0(0).PV1(0).#3(0).[1]  ct =B ||

      0(0).PV1(0).#3(0).[1]  ct =C ||

      0(0).PV1(0).#3(0).[1]  ct =D

      then do something like

      copy 0(0).PV1(0).#3(0).[1] to 0(0).PV1(0).#3(0).[1] using preproc

      set xlateOutVals

        1 end ]]

        Or

        a trimleft like

        set ex [lindex $xlateInVals 0]

        set ex [string trimleft $ex Z]

        set xlateOutVals

          Or use your examples

          My question surrounds only the IF portion and the condition statement in the GUI.  Can you check for a range within the IF condition?  Like a ct =[A-Z]?  (something like that to show intent).

          FYI I ended up using a combination of both of your example for different things.  Thank you.

          Thanks Jim.  I used both tools.  I am not sure though what it is telling me.  This is all test data. Below is hcihd on the file sent to the fileset/local thread.

              Thanks to all for the help.

              I have a new quick one?  New to everything cloverleaf…

              If this is an ORU in the variant i am using

              MSH

              {

              [

              PID

              [ PD1 ]

              [{ NTE } ]

              [

              PV1

              [ PV2 ]

              ]

              ]

              {

              [ ORC ]

              OBR

              [{ NTE } ]

              {

              [ OBX ]

              [{ NTE } ]

              }

              [{ CTI } ]

              }

              }

              [ DSC ]

              I want to put a value in every obx-3 of =&GDT – i have tried it in the translate using iterate but i do not fully understand how it works esp when the group is repeating and what ‘basis’ to use.  I think if i get one good example/explanation i could go from there for the next one.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

                Basically looking for a simple proc to get kill messages that come in looking like the below:

                MSH|^~&||KGH|||201508241127|ADTPA|ADT^A08|9200|T|2.3

                EVN

                PID

                PV1

                They are always A08s but not all A08s are like this  – some actually are correct.
