Have you gone into the directory and confirmed that the files have not been renamed, compressed, or deleted.  I am assuming that you are in the gui and can see the index file on the list of available SMAT files.  If so then you need to confirm that the “.msg” file is there and has the same root name as the “.idx” file.

  You might want to look at creating two FRL or VRL formats to depict your two record types in your flat file.  then Create an HRL to put them into a grouping.  After that you should be able to use the translation Config to loop through your file and translate to the HL7 message.(DFT) which contains the FT1 segment.
