Here is what I did:

Action: CONCAT

Source:  1(0).STF(0).#2(0).[0]  /** =P in the next line
            =P
Destination: @tmp

Then I did a COPY using the tmp variable and copied to the destination field.

I also tried adding the tilde in front of the source, no luck.

I tried the same thing as you have suggested.  However, the problem I am having is that some times there will be  4 “*” and other times “3 “*” between the first name and “MI”.

We finally figured this out.  The custom views are embedded in the same smat files where the view was created.  Therefore, if we open a brand new SMAT file, create a view and them select import – at that point we import the original smat file where the view was created; walla and you will see the views.  That was a difficult find, as…Read more

I need to store the HL7 messages in a SQL database, and then after 24 hours match the records in the db with MRN and send HL7 results back to the client.  This way all the results are grouped by patient.  Has anyone done anything similar?
