I am on a Windows 2008 server and when I open up a shell window I can run setroot, showroot and hcidbdump command and have it work.  But when I try hciprocstatus, hcismatconvert it opens the htc file into notepad.  Anyone else have this happen?  What did you do?

Thanks for any help I can get!

          Donna,

It is possible that the file extension .htc somehow became associated with Notepad, causing all .htc files to be automatically opened by Notepad.

There is an easy way to check on this and undo the association.

          Open Windows Explorer,

Tools –> Folder Options –> File Types. Select the desired Registered file type (HTC) and click on the Delete button to remove the association with Notepad.

This can also be done directly in the Windows Registry but I would use a tool to do it.
