When to change OS?

We are planning on upgrading next year. We are currently on 5.7 rev 2 on Win2008 Servers. With the message volume we are now showing (average 450000 a day {that is total inbound and outbound}) I understand that we should be switching to Linux boxes.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

  We’ve been on Red Hat for years with great success. The OS provides a very stable environment for Cloverleaf.

  What is the recommended message limit to switch to a Linux box? We are currently using windows 2003 R2, but are beginning the upgrade process to 5.8.5 (from 5.7). We were originally thinking about going to Windows Server 2008.

  We are in identical release and platform situations as Josh, so I’d be interested to know if there is, in fact, a good reason or suggested circumstances to be switching.
