I have over 200 translations that are not very well documentated.

What I need to do is get them into a format that I can post on our share point server.  Does anyone have any good ideas, on the best way to do this.

I was thinking of importing them to an excel spread sheet.

Any one done any thing like this ?

      The code.

I was asked if we lost all the backups. And the engine died could we recreate the interfaces.

I said no we don’t have that level of documentations.

So the said well go make it.

The xlate code is just text files. On our servers (Solaris and AIX) they are $HCISITEDIR/Xlate/*.xlt.

I just completed a visio document.  Looks just like the production monitor.  You can add hyperlinks to link each thread to all of the specification documentation, support information and I copied all of the xlates, tables and HL7 variants to this server.  They can also be viewed via the hyperlink.  The netconfig file was also copied to this server.

With each change control, I also make sure I add the changes to this Visio.  The Visio and all of the supporting documentation is on an offsite server.

Rebuild would be easy since I have copies of all of the necessary files.

Dan, that sound like a great setup with the backup and Visio documentation.  Could I get a copy of the Visio document?  I know I’ll have to rename and relink everything for our specifics, but it would be nice to use it as a template.

      Thanks,

If you are sharing, I would love a copy as well. This will greatly help with the multitude of interface implementations that I have going on concurrently.

John, if your engine died and you lost your backups, do you really think that your SharePoint server will survive the disaster?

If it will why not just copy your backup files to the SharePoint server or some other off site location?
