Running Cloverleaf 5.5 Rev 1 on AIX, we discovered a problem with copy/pasted IF statements in the Xlate GUI.

Here is the sequence of events:

      – In the 5.5 GUI, copy an IF statement

      – Paste the IF statement to a new location

      – Change any action included under the pasted IF statement (not the condition of the IF statement itself).

      – Apply the change

      – Save the Xlate

      – Close the Xlate

      – Reopen the Xlate

Presto, the action on the pasted IF statement has reverted to its original (pasted) values — your changes to that action are lost.

Quovadx support says this is a known bug that will be resolved in Cloverleaf 5.6.

      There are 2 work-arounds:

      1) Don’t paste IF statements; OR

      2) Save & Close the Xlate immediately after copy/pasting an IF statement.  Re-open the Xlate before modifying actions on the pasted IF statement.

          Hi Mark,

We noticed this bug last friday: my colleague copied a few IF-statements and then tried to remove some echo’s inside these IFs. And although the echo’s were removed, they still showed up when running the translation through the testing tool.

I just tried what you described and I can definitely confirm this bug. Thanks for mentioning it. IMHO this should be solved in CL5.5 also: we can’t keep upgrading just to have some bugs fixed!

            All,

We’ve noticed similar behavior in 5.4.1 as well.

I’m very happy  ðŸ˜†  to have read this post so I do not end up joining you in  the nut house when we upgrade.

Is there any indication that this bug will be resolved with a patch for CL 5.4.1/5.5?

Last week I kept staring at a new translation for more than an hour and wondering why it didn’t behave the way it should. Next day I saw that I copied an entire ITERATE with an IF in it, and the IF-changes I made were reverted to the original IF.

It just won’t work that you need to remember NOT to copy IF-statements…
