From the documentation, it looks like the field separator for VRL’s is set globally for each site by going to Options — Global Properties.

What do you do if different systems need different separators and they are in the same Cloverleaf site?  Is your only option a tcl proc that regsub’s out the default separator for the desired separator after the mapping is done?

      Thanks,

          Hi Kenadi,

The name ‘Global properties’ may be a bit misleading. You can define the (field/subfield etc) separators for every VRL. So every VRL can have it’s own separators.

            Robert,

Can you give some more detail on how this is done.  I did not see a spot for it in the VRL configurator.  We are on v5.7.

            Thanks,

We are on CL5.5 and in the VRL Configurator, you can chose from the top menu ‘Options/Global Properties’. Here you can define the separators for this VRL.

              They changed this in 5.7?

No, it’s the same.  I see now what you mean.  Even though the menu is up at the “site level” and called “global properties”, it IS different for each VRL.

Healthvision take note – this is very confusing.  Why isn’t the separator definition right on the VRL configurator???

                Thanks,

                Kenadi
