      Hello,

I am having some issues with running my XLATE through the testing tool. I am doing straight copies from one segment to another (mainly path copies), and they should match up just fine. I am going from a 2.3 SIU_S12 to a 2.3 SIU_S12 but I still receive the messages ” ‘AIS’ is out of order for message type ‘SIU_S12’. Segment Ignored.” For my AIS, and AIG Segments. Attached is an image of the inbound message, and then the errors I receive at the top of the message when I run it against my XLATE in the testing tool. I have a feeling it is something in the variant but I don’t know what, I tried making the AIG, AIS, etc, optional but that didn’t work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

      Thank you,

      Jon

          Jon,

It appears by what you stated as your inbound and outbound HL7 formats, that you are using the standard format that is in the root directory and not one that you have built.   If that is the case, then I’m curious to know what the order of the segments are in your inbound message.

Your error states that the #5 segment encountered is the AIS segment.  However, in the root SIU variant, there are other segments that should come before the AIS segment.  Is the sending system sending the AIS segment before the PV2, OBX, DG1, or RGS?

          Later….

Attached is an example of the full incoming message. I don’t see any order issues, but I might be missing something.

Keep in mind this is just a test patient and test message.

            Thank you,

            Jon

In the HL7 variant (at least on our system), the RGS segment comes before the AIS segment.   It is listed as a required segment.   If it is not listed as an optional segment in your variant, then that could be causing your problem.

I would create a separate HL7 variant and not mess with the ones at the root level.   Then you can make the RGS segment optional if you want.  That should clear up your errors.

              Hope this helps…

You were correct. I didn’t notice it and I swear I must have checked for that 5 times. I appreciate your help.

                Thank you
