Use .msg file to load messages into a cloverleaf thread

We have several threads which accept HL7 formatted files which Cloveleaf picks up and reads into the thread and sends each individual message. Is there a way to set up a thread or the SMAT file .msg component to read into a thread without modifying the .msg file and not have to use SMAT to load the messages into first and resend. Or does the file have to be modified ie. adding to the beginning and to the end. and does anyone have a script which does this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
