We are upgrading to qdx5.3 from qdx5.1 on AIX 5.1

running engine commands from AIX works fine, however all GUI commands issued on windows clients get the following errors.

As a result we cannot use the GUI’s to start interfaces or processes

Unable to update index: exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program hcitcl because of the following errors:

0509-150   Dependent module libtcl8.3.so could not be loaded.

         0509-022 Cannot load module libtcl8.3.so.

0509-026 System error: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

Anybody seen this and have a fix for it??

      thanks in advance

          Scott,

I’m assuming that you are trying to execute these GUI commands via an X-term/X-windows emulator.  Make sure that you are performing a ‘setroot’ and ‘setsite’ to the appropriate environment  before executing the GUI commands; you’ll see these types of messages when the environment variables aren’t set for the Cloverleaf environment.

          Hope this helps.

Jim thanks for the reply, but no I’m not using an X-windows emulator.

I’m getting these errors when I use the QDX 5.3 windows client installed on my win xp PC. No variables to set when doing that, that I’m aware of.

It has to be something with the new install of 5.3, because my 5.1 sites work fine.

I installed 5.3 rev1 then performed rootcopies of my sites, ran xltconvert, and tpsconverts. Saw these strange errors, and then applied the patch for 5.3 rev3. But still seeing errors. I’m going to start over and try again.

Any other thoughts on what it could be??

That file doesn’t get copied to the proper place during the install. I think you need to find it and copy it to I think: $HCIROOT/tcl/lib/libtcl8.3.so

This is a bug, and I think I saw it fixed in the 5.4 release notes. If you check those out it might give you more info…
