We are running Cloverleaf 5.5 and are looking to upgrade to version 6.0. Our current AIX environment is 5.3, and I know that it will have to be upgraded to 6.1 or 7.1 to run the new version of Cloverleaf.

I am curious if anyone knows whether Cloverleaf 5.5 can run on AIX 6.1 TL 8, so that we can preload the OS upgrade. We are performing an AIX upgrade to 6.1 TL 8 on another box, and our sysadmin likes to keep things on the same level.

Also, I would like to know if anyone has any testimonials regarding the functionality and features of 6.0, compared to the 5.x family. I would hate to upgrade to 6.0 just to find out that there are still some kinks, and we would be better served to go to 5.8.

      Thanks!

          Hi John,

Cloverleaf 5.5 is certified on AIX 5.2. and 5.3.

On 6.0, the customers I have talked to that have upgraded have been very pleased with this release.

There is a lot of new functionality in 6.0 as compared to 5.8 so I would suggest you get to 6.0 if at all possible.

            John,

If you are going through the effort of upgrading, I would go to 6.0.  We recently went through an upgrade to 5.8.5, and would have made the jump to 6.0 if we hadn’t been so far into our testing cycle on 5.8.5 when 6.0 became GA.  There are alot of nice new features built into 6.0.  Just my $.02 worth.

            Thanks,

Your upgrade is actually going to be easy if you can get a new hardware (or partitions carved out) if you migrate from current to 6.0 on 6.1/7.1.  You will also have the advantage of being able to easily back out, by just restarting old configuration, should it be needed!

At Cadence Health, we are converting to 5.8.5 and getting new servers, and moving them to a new Data Center, and not using IBM’s HACMP software, but opted to use Semantec Veritas Cluster Services.

6.0 would have been nice, but to much change….We’ll be on it by end of year hopefully.
