      I have cloverleaf 6.0 installed and running under AIX 6.1 TL9 SP2.

All is well enough but I’ve been asked to sanction upgrading to AIX 7.1 TL3 SP0.

I will take the approach to upgrade the passive node in our HA cluster for our test cloverleaf environment and then fail-over to see how it goes.

This will be the first time we jumped up the base level of the operating systems without installing cloverleaf afterwards.

Even though cloverleaf 6.0 is supported under AIX 7.1, I’m curious if I can simply upgrade from AIX 6.1 to AIX 7.1 without having to be concerned with doing any reinstall of cloverleaf?

          Greetings Russ,

We will be very interested in you experiences here as history has demonstrated that there can be undocumented “decisions” which the Cloverleaf installation software makes depending on the OS platform.

I think that SP1 for AIX7.1 is the certified maintenance level per the Release notes.  I would check that out first.

We will be looking to upgrade to AIX 7.1 down the road (next year?).

And hopefully have upgraded from 5.8.7.0 to 6.0.2 (preferably 6.1).

          Thanks.

            Russ:

Please let me know if your upgrade AIX to V7.1 was successful with Cloverleaf V6.0.  We are about to upgrade AIX from V6.1 to V7.1 within Cloverleaf V6.0.2.0.

            Thank you,

I was miss informed, the upgrade was to HACMP 7 and not AIX 7 thank goodness.

We are still at AIX 6.1, but I will be curious to hear how it goes for you or any others.

I’m especially interested to hear not only if it went well, but was the upgradee done in place, or a scratch install and migration to a new machine.

I have installed a couple of servers on Cloverleaf 6.1.  It was very particukar to the certified  version and release of AIX.  When I went to start a thread, it appears to call a version of the top command to gain the number of processors.  On AIX 7.1 TLs prior to TL2, this command would fail and not allow the engines to start.  As soon as TL2 was installed, we were good….

We have been attempting to upgrade Cloverleaf V5.7 to CIS6.1 on multiple versions of AIX 6100 … all fail with hcimonitord error citing ‘top’ access of CPU info encounters ‘Invalid Format’.   Our current attempt involves AIX 6100-06-05-1115.  We were advised initially that “any TL of AIX 6100 should work”, clearly that is hardly the case.  Cloverleaf specs cite AIX 6.1 TL6 and 7.1 TL10.  At what other levels of 6.1 and 7.1 have folks had successful installs?

                    Greetings,

We are currently running CIS6.1.0 on AIX 6100-09-03-1415

two production servers and one test server just recently patched to SP4.

                    We did upgrade from CIS5.8.7.

I do recall some wrinkles between 5.7 and 5.8.

Check the release notes about migration from 5.7 to 5.8.

                    Hope this helps you out.
