I’d like to know what is the highest TL level that your AIX 5.3 has running without issue with CL 5.6.
TIA!
We have been running CIS5.6R2 on AIX5.3 TL11 for over a year without any issues or problems. Cloverleaf Integrator runs in a dedicated LPAR on its own physical server – no other applications run on its server.
From what I understand: Healthvsion/Lawson certifies the Integrator on the minimum TL (maintenance) level on an OS so you can usually up the level without issue, that is, the Integrator will continue to run on a higher level for that OS version.
At least that has proved out for us so far.
Happy Labor Day!

Just another item about why we are running at AIX5.3 TL11: IBM pulled support on TL8 back in April 2010 and our Operating System Group pushed us to up the level to an IBM supported maintenance level.
Enjoy.

That probaly means we are about to be pushed up ourselves.
You said you are running at AIX 5.6 TL11 and I would also like to know the SP level if you know that information; otherwise, just run my posted script or the “oslevel -s” command to see.
I already passed along to our system admin group the TL11 information.

Hope this helps you guys out.

I would hate to upgrade unless they had specifically said it’s “certified”.
One and All,
I have gone through this cycle of “certification levels” with Healthvision support before we upgraded. Per support they certify at a minimum OS level and the theory is that the minimum and above on that OS is de facto certified to be good for the engine.
So far this has proven out in our experience AFTER running our Test engine on the higher levels for at least a month prior to upgrading our Production servers. In most cases our issues in the past have been with the hostserver module but that has stablilized since AIX5.2 for us.
If in doubt I would suggest a call to support to confirm my assertions.
Enjoy.
Robert:
Thanks for providing the output of the “oslevel -s” command.
I’ve informed our system admin group that you are running Cloverleaf 5.6rev2 on AIX 5.3 TL11 SP2.
Kevin:
The last time I called Cloverleaf support to see what level of the OS was supported it seems to me they said they don’t certify beyond the base level they used originally.
If this has changed, then I would definitely call tech support and go with that; otherwise, questions like this on Clovertech have been additionally helpful.
I had called clovertech support when I went to AIX 5.3 TL8 SP8 and wasn’t given any assurance my OS upgrade was certified beyond the base level they originally used to certify Cloverleaf 5.6rev2 on, which was lower than what I upgraded to.
I would of been glad to stay with waht was working fine but as the OS levels go out of support we eventually receive a mandate to upgrade to an OS that is supported.

I asked our system admin group if I could expect a simialr push to upgrade our OS and here is the response I got from them:

Thanks for your research and reply here.
Guess our Operating System Group went ahead not knowing that IBM
extended support for TL8.
So far CIS5.6R2 is running fine on TL11 SP2.
We will be looking to up the OS to AIX6.1 next year.

Is there anyone out there who is at AIX 5.3 TL12? And if so, what’s been your experience?
Thanks.
