EVERY message sent out on an outbound thread is saved to SMAT. It does not mater if it is a resend or not.
As a matter of fact that is one way to research the amount of time it finally took for an acknowledgment as well as the numbe of resends that took place. This is useful information.

As an aside, with 5.8.5.0 Integrator you now see Resend message attempt log entries for auto resends in the process logs. (We are running dual roots but testing the 5.8.5.0 engine). Nice!
