      Fellow clovertechers,

          We are running 6.2 on Linux.

          I have configured alerts before to fire when a thread goes into an ‘opening status’. I did some testing today and found that I can only get the alert to fire when the thread was completely, down/dead. This is of no use to us, since the only way that we would know if connectivity was lost, was if the max record count was reach. In some cases, that could take hours.

          Has anyone ever experienced this, and if so, what was the solution?

      TIA,

      Carl Tosi   😮

          There are two types of alerts to look at:

          1) Thread status

          2) Protocol status

          We have both configured here.

          1) Thread status/any/!=/up/N minutes/5/

          2) Protocol status/any/!=/up/N minutes/10

            The protocol status worked !!!

            The alert fires just like I want it to.

            The thread status is actually a “protocol” status. You’d use it for watching a tcp/ip connection go into an Opening state. If you check the “thread only” check box, it will only fire if the process is up so you don’t get duplicate alerts.
