Test File Format

I am not sure what is going on with my test data, but I am trying to test some data files and it runs the test on the file but only the MSH segments and stops.  I have changed to New Line, Lenght Encoded, and EOF but I cannot get the data to go through.  I assume that it is an issue with the formatting of the file, but I really need to be able to send the files through the test environment.  I appreciate any help with this.

Ryan,

Are you running the HL/7 tester?

If so, do an hcihd (pipe it to less or more) on the file and see if each segment is terminated with CRLF (Carriage Return/ Line Feed).

hcihd gives a hexadecimal dump.

You can also tell if this is a length encoded file at the same time (it won’t be both).

If each segment is terminated with CRLF, that is your problem. Either get a properly formatted file from the source or using an editor make sure the segments are properly terminated.

If you are running the Xlate Tester try the HL/7 Tester or do the hcihd to make sure you have a properly formatted file.

If the file is properly formatted, then it is possible your Xlate has an error and all you are producing is the MSH.

It is separated with a CR LF.
