Suggestions for Lead Cloverleaf Job Requirements

Hello All, We are getting ready to post a position at our hospital for a Lead Interface & Conversions Analyst.  This will be a new position, and we would like to get some ideas from the group what this position (or similiar) looks like in your facility.  We know we would like to have someone that is Cloverleaf Level 2 certified, and preferably someone who has Epic Bridges certification.  Any suggestions? Phil,

It depends on the philosophy of your shop in my opinion.

Is your shop Tcl centric or tool centric (in other words does your shop utilize Tcl instead of some of the toolset like Xlate or augment the toolset with only the Tcl you actually need)?

Is your shop single site or multi-site oriented? I am talkning about Cloverleaf sites here.

When you write Tcl is it primarily reusable or non-reusable?

Does your shop use detailed specifications or do you just build from whatever the vendor provides?

Does your shop have or want to have a full set of standards or are integrations built as each engineer sees fit?

I am sure there are many more considerations but you want to find someone who has the philosophy and experience with that philosophy that fits your shop’s philosophy or intended philosophy.

Oh and while the candidate should be pleasant to work with (team player and all that) – I don’t think you want a pleasant incompetent.

Thanks for the response Jim, and all excellent thoughts.  I would like to answer each one:

We just converted our EMR from McKesson to Epic.  Prior to Epic we were heavily Tcl driven.  When we moved to Epic, we opted to go heavily using Xlates with minimal Tcl –  that are widely reusable.

We are multi-site – We took the opportunity to set up our sites with a brilliant consultant when we switched to Epic.  Our sites are based on message types (ADT site, Orders/Results site, Charges site)

We do use a combination of both detailed specifications as well as what vendor provides.  It has really depended on who we are working with.  As an example we are working with a HIE company that we basically built the interface specifications for them as we went along in testing.

We pretty much allow each engineer to build as they see fit, as long as we all agree that each one on the team can support once the build goes live (and it’s stable of course 🙂

We are looking for someone that can lead our team.  Which is comprised of one getting his level 2 certification this year (me), and two others that will be getting their level 1 this year (although already very familiar with cloverleaf)

No sir, there is no management of employees involved.  This is strictly a higher level –  both in pay and knowledge expectations from what we currently have.  They would be the one to lead cloverleaf version update projects as well.
