      QDX 5.3 on AIX 5.2.

Currently, all staff will log in using our own accounts and then ‘su – hci’.

Would there be any problems if we switch to sudo instead? Any loss of functionalities?

Any problems when it comes to editing hci-owned scripts?

      TIA!

Hi David – We’ve used sudo for the past 7 years to work as hci with no problems.   We’re currently using Cloverleaf 5.5 on AIX 5.3 and have used sudo since Cloverleaf 3.7.1.

hci-owned files can be edited normally after logging in as hci via sudo.

            David.

We’ve used ‘sudo’ for many years.

We use the ‘hci’ user for ‘vendor’ code and have setup ‘hcimgr’ as the user for all dev, test and prod sites.

We use our own logins for the dev sites.

Almost all of our work is perfomed on the AIX server, so we don’t have ownership issues.

              Hi guys,

              Thanks for the inputs!

Does this mean that for production support and development, we practically never need to know the ‘hci’ password?

              Audit’s calling….😛

We’ve never known our hci password, so your auditors should be happy.
