Hi Tom:
Thanks for your response and I really enjoyed golfing with you and the others after the users conference.
You are correct about the statusbar entry in the siteInfo file.
I’m almost certain I did what you are suggesting by using the statusbar entry in siteInfo in 3.5 and earlier but it doesn’t work in 5.6.
When I called HelathVison tech support about the statusbar entry in siteInfo having no effect, they said I must of gotten it to work before 3.8 becuase it doesn’t work since then as far as they know.
This could be true because we jumped from 3.5 to 5.2 and this is our first chance to learn about this since 3.5 now that we are migrating live sites to 5.6.
If this is true then perhaps it should be either remediated in the documentation or fixed to work again.
That is why I went ahead and posted on clovertech to see if any of the user community had figured a clever way around it.
The bar height and color settings seem to work and could be used to denote a locked site but we still would like to have it show who has the site locked and perhpas for how long.
We have observed that the lock notice on the NetConfig is inncorrect often enough to be useless.
Plus I’m looking to keep the site locked for an extended period like a week or more during a version upgrade.
I checked out the new notes tab in the NetConfig but it is for a specific thread and not for the entire site.
We could resort to various homegrown solutions like creating a mda_locked.txt file or a mda_notes.txt file in the $HCISITEDIR on the back end of the AIX server.
However, my first preference would be to have it appear on the status bar in the IDE.
