      I would like to take some control of the statusbar in the IDE and be able to add some wording like “locked by Russ Ross on 12/09/2008”.

      I attempted to modify the statusbar entry in the file

      $HCISITEDIR/siteInfo

      which did not seem to have any effect on the statusbar in the IDE as desired.

      Some of the other entires like sitecolor or colorbarheight seem to work.

      Does anyone out there know how to accomplish what I’m trying to do in QDX 5.6?

        That would be very, very handy. To my knowledge, it can’t be done. I have an enchancement request in to add more detail to the task bar button. Sounds like you need to request this feature, too.

          According to the documentation in the siteInfo file, you should be able to take the statusbar line with something like:

          statusbar=%sitename|%siteicon|%version

          and then add a unix command like “whoami” such as

          statusbar=%sitename|%siteicon|%version|=whoami

          Supposedly, it should put in the statusbar who you are logged in as.  However, I can’t seem to get that to work either.

            Hi Tom:

            Thanks for your response and I really enjoyed golfing with you and the others after the users conference.

            You are correct about the statusbar entry in the siteInfo file.

            I’m almost certain I did what you are suggesting by using the statusbar entry in siteInfo in 3.5 and earlier but it doesn’t work in 5.6.

            When I called HelathVison tech support about the statusbar entry in siteInfo having no effect, they said I must of gotten it to work before 3.8 becuase it doesn’t work since then as far as they know.

            This could be true because we jumped from 3.5 to 5.2 and this is our first chance to learn about this since 3.5 now that we are migrating live sites to 5.6.

            If this is true then perhaps it should be either remediated in the documentation or fixed to work again.

            That is why I went ahead and posted on clovertech to see if any of the user community had figured a clever way around it.

            The bar height and color settings seem to work and could be used to denote a locked site but we still would like to have it show who has the site locked and perhpas for how long.

            We have observed that the lock notice on the NetConfig is inncorrect often enough to be useless.

            Plus I’m looking to keep the site locked for an extended period like a week or more during a version upgrade.

            I checked out the new notes tab in the NetConfig but it is for a specific thread and not for the entire site.

            We could resort to various homegrown solutions like creating a mda_locked.txt file or a mda_notes.txt file in the $HCISITEDIR on the back end of the AIX server.

            However, my first preference would be to have it appear on the status bar in the IDE.

              HealthVison tech support has responded to me via a couple of emails as follows:

              email 1

                  Ok I will put in an enhancement request and pass the question by R&D as well.

              email 2

                  The enhancement request for this issues is HUBad12263.

                In the mean time, I have come up with a work around to provide a visual notification a given site is locked by creating a bitmap of a lock with the persons name on the lock.

                Then any intigration engineer can change the bitmap on the top left thread to alert other team members the site is locked and by who.

                Here is a partial sample screen shot of a NetConfig to illustrate.

                Darn, looks like attachments aren’t uploading at this time so sorry.

                  I tried uploading the screen shot today and attachments seem to be working now.
