I have the exe loaded locally

      running win7  4gig ram

I have employed the suggestions of increasing speed by:

      1. jvm_args, Xmx1024m

      2. background uniformity in color

      3. intersite routing

After non-use (usually overnite) I come in  the next morning…..it takes 10 minutes to start…but then after….it starts up quickly…..

also running 5.8.5 hciaccess.exe – none of the above symptoms exhibited

Is there a call out to a network resource possibly that must be loaded ?

          Bob,

We have seen odd slowness with new clients on a PC. One of the things that rings a bell is that we have had to open a new inbound port on the Windows PC. So, the firewall rule I have on my client says it allows ports 13019-13025 and ephemeral. Looking at my client.ini files, it appears that 6.0 uses port 13020 and 6.1.x uses 13021.

Would this not have totally stopped the client as opposed to making it slow?

Where is that firewall rule held ?   at desktop or on firewall?

Yes, you would think it either works or it doesn’t work. So, I’m not super confident that this is your problem. But, as I said, we have seen “odd slowness” and we thought this was one of the things we had tracked it down to. Sorry if it is a wild goose chase.

The changes we make whenever we install Cloverleaf on a new PC or install a new version of the client are in the Windows firewall on the client running the GUI. I get to that via the Control Panel. I have inbound ports 13019-13025 and ephemeral open on the rule with “Cloverleaf” in the name. As far as I know, 6.1.1 is using 13021. I just put in a few above that back when we dealt with this for 6.0 so I wouldn’t have to remember every upgrade.

                Bill,

I believe this range is what dictates what can be used for the actual tcp/ip interface threads in the engine.

I lost track of the original clovertech post I got this work around from but was able to find the steps I followed.

One of our team members had horrible IDE slowness after upgrading from cloverleaf 5.6 to 6.0 that he just couldn’t make go away.

Everyone else had no issues even on the same exact setup.

He even uninstalled/reinstalled cloverleaf a couple of times but the slowness would return.

It is certainly easy enough to try in case you get lucky like we did.

From your GUI on your desktop/laptop

1.) Click on Options in the Menu

                  2.) Then chose Client Options

                  3.) Find the NetConfig/NetMonitor tab

4.) Uncheck the box for Automatically update inter-site routing status.
