      Hello All,

I thought I would throw this email out to the group to see how other Cloverleaf users plan on handling the 2007 spring time change requirements, and maybe stimulate some conversation.

      Our current environment RS6000 P520

      OS level is AIX 5200-05.

      Platform V 5.3P REV2

Do other sites plan on patching their current OS level to level 8 or higher

or just apply the update as a specific fix by installing the fix for IBM APAR IY75213.

      Filesets : bos.rte.libc.5.20.85 and bos.adt.prof.5.2.0.85

I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions that this email generates be sent to the group, this all can benifit and exchange information.

I was told by qdx support that a mailing would be sent out regarding QDX position and approach on this.  Did ayone get this ?

Apparently, you can get by with just updating the TZ environment variable.  (And it’s the only option if your oslevel is less than 5)

            “Managing the Time Zone Variable”

            http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=isg3T1000252” class=”bbcode_url”>http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=isg3T1000252

It will be interesting to see QDX’s recommendation.

Personally, if I had room for all the prerequisite fixes (could be 800MB?!), I’d probably chose the APARs:  mostly because I suspect that changing TZ alone might shift old filestamps off by an hour during extended parts of daylight savings time (not that anybody would really notice), but also just to keep the system updated.
