Soliciting opinions on disk-based queuing

In response to a handful of recent process crashes, our team is discussing using disk-based queuing. We’re on 5.8.5, running AIX 6.1. We run multiple sites on our production machine.

From those of you who are using disk-based queuing, could you please share what information went into your decision and what guidelines you used in setting the thresholds? If you’re only using it on some of your processes, please share what your criteria were for switching it on.

I’m especially interested in AIX-based systems, but would like to hear from Linux and Windows installations as well.
