Hello all, was wondering if anyone knows how to change the Shell Window button in the IDE from using telnet to using something more secure like SSH.

If you run the IDE from Linux, the shell button opens up an Xterm window. If you’re using MobaXterm or other software that tunnels you GUI traffic over SSH, then it should be secure.

David, we unfortunately only have the option of running the IDE on Windows. Are we just out of luck and unable to use this button?

You can go to Client Preferences>External Tools and add paths to .exe files to launch whatever you’d like from the IDE on Windows. See attached image.

I usualy set up the Remote Shell Command in Client Preferences –> External Commands –> Remote Shell Command and put in the following for example: C:\Program Files\PuTTY\putty.exe @H

Keith, i tried that with powershell or just cmd.exe as well as cygwin and none launched. There may be something I’m missing with them. It doesn’t complain — Jut doesn’t launch. It will complain if it can’t find the file (IE: I type the wrong location).
