SFTP Cloverleaf 5.8 issue

I am getting this error on a SFTP setup I have  

testFTP:12/10/2013 16:25:52] Error while trying to write test.txt.

Detailed error:Upload failed: Operation failed (4/-31)

Curl errCode:79 Curl error: Error in the SSH layer

what is Operation failed (4/-31)

I can use the command line sftp from the local box and manually transfer the file with out a problem but using Cloverleaf I see this issue

any ideas
