We have Cloverleaf ODBC extensions installed at our site. I primarily use them now to connect to MS SQL Server databases. We have a separate Windows 2003 server that runs SLServer software and our HP-UX CL 5.3P_REV3 has SLClient installed.
I am now trying to connect to a third party database (actually McKesson STAR) using their Windows ODBC driver. It looks to me from DataDirect’s documentation that I should be able to create a new service based on ODBC Socket template.
However when I try to configure it using MMC – it does not show up as an option. I also tried to re-install SLServer and noticed that ODBC Socket is not on the list during installation. The choices I have are: MSSQL, DB2, Informix, Oracle, and a couple of other databases but not ODBC socket.
My question is: Does Quovadx omit ODBC Socket pieces when they re-package DataDirect’s product? Is there a way to get it? Or am I missing something and it is available.
The architecture diagram of what I am trying to achieve is as follows:
On UNIX[TPS -> SLClient] -> On WIN[ SLServer -> Local ODBC DSN ] -> ThirdParty Server ODBC Server.
Any insight would be helpful.
