Segments out of order for message types.

I am having problems with an existing setup that was done a while back when we first setup Cloverleaf. The message that is getting sent to the vendor is not sending all of the ORC, OBR and DG1 segments and I am getting the message “The # 8 segment encountered ‘DG1’ is out of order for message type ‘ORM_O01’.  Segment ignored.” A change was made to send multiple orders in a single HL7 message to a Lab for resulting. It appears that the first order is being sent but not the following orders. I have tried to use Iterates to find if those particular segments listed above are repeating but I guess I don’t have the correct syntax down. Does anyone already do this. We are using Epic and the lab is Quest.

Check your variant.  If you have required segments and they are not sent inbound you will receive those out of order segment warnings in the process log.

I don’t get those error messages on the inbound message but when it is sent outbound. I have checked the technical specs and everything looks fine in the variant from what I can see. These threads were originally setup by a Helathvisions technician. Should I contact tech support to see if they can help with it?

What happens when you run a test message through the hl7tester with your outbound variant?
